PAKAR helped BNPT Train East Javanese Social Leaders in Counter Radicalization

On 25-27 April 2012 PAKAR’s researcher presented their research findings on Indonesian radical groups. The presentation was given in training of trainer (TOT) event held by the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) and the National Development University (UPN Veteran) of Surabaya at Sativa Sanggarloka Hotel, Mojokerto, East Java.

The 45 trainees attending the presentation came from various mass organizations and Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in East Java, particularly from Surabaya, Mojokerto, Lamongan, Madura, Nganjuk dan Ponorogo.    During the presentation they learned about various radical groups involved in terrorist acts in Indonesia and the ways to counter their recruitment.
