PAKAR trains Mass Organization in Counter Radicalism

PAKAR provides trainings to Indonesian mass organizations in counter radicalism. Through the trainings PAKAR aims at giving the knowledge and tools needed by these organizations in mapping Indonesian radical groups and countering their radical propagation and other activities.

In 2011-2012 PAKAR gave trainings to the leaders and members of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah and Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) in counter radicalization. The trainings were organized by these

organizations in cooperation with the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT), and done in Jakarta, Depok, Bogor, Yogyakarta and Malang.

 Followings are three samples of the trainings:

 

  1. On 2 November 2011 PAKAR trained 35 leaders and members of NU in mapping radical pesantrens  (Islamic boarding school) and countering their radical propagation. PAKAR also trained them in mapping Indonesia radical groups and countering the radicalization spread by these groups. The training was held at D’Wangsa Maluku, Jakarta and organized by the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) and BNPT.
  2. On 18 November 2011 PAKAR trained the leaders and members of NU’s Bogor branch in mapping radical pesantrens  (Islamic boarding school) and countering their radical propagation. The training was held at Pondok Orri Hotel, Citeureup, Bogor and organized by the Bogor branch of NU and BNPT.
  3. On 16 October 2012 PAKAR trained religious leaders in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi in mapping radical ideology of the Indonesian radical groups and countering the spread of the ideology. The training was organized by MUI in cooperation with BNPT.
